How we tag facts

Every fact on RavenTome carries a tag that says where it comes from and how sure we are. Lines and pages also show when we last checked them. This page explains each tag, marker and stamp.
Status tags: how sure are we?
- Official: Blizzard said it, in a news article, patch notes, development notes or a post by Blizzard staff. We link the post. This is the strongest source. When Blizzard’s statements differ, the newest one wins.
- Datamined: read from the game client’s own data files. We name the client build it came from. The numbers are exact, but the client can hold things that are not live yet, and the server can change values.
- Beta: seen on the beta test by testers or guide writers. It can change at launch (4 Nov 2026) or in a later patch.
- Community: the view of guide writers or experienced players. Advice and experience, not data.
- Estimate: our own reasoning, for example about raids that nobody could test before launch. It is our best guess, and we say what it rests on.
- Unverified: only one weak source, or we could not check it yet. Treat it as a hint.
- Conflict: sources disagree. We show both versions with their dates and say which one we follow. Check the sources yourself before you rely on it.
A line that rests on several facts shows the weakest tag among them.
Which source wins
- Blizzard’s own words. The newest official statement wins over older ones.
- Data from the game client.
- Established guide sites and experienced players. They can lag behind patches, so we check their numbers against the newest official notes.
- Anything else is only a lead. We never use it as the only source for a number.
When sources disagree, we write both, with their dates, and tag the line Conflict.
Change markers: what is different in Forever
Forever rebuilt the 2004 world, and many talents, abilities, professions, dungeons and raids changed. These markers compare Forever with Classic Era, the version of the original game that Blizzard still runs:
- New: new in Forever.
- Changed: exists in Classic Era but works differently in Forever.
- Removed: was in Classic Era, gone in Forever.
- From SoD: came back from Season of Discovery, with Forever’s own numbers.
We only call something unchanged when a Forever source shows it.
Stamps: how fresh is this?
- Client build, for example “Client build 1.60.1.70532”: the version of the game client our data comes from. Forever’s client versions start with 1.60. A new build can change values, so after each one we compare the data and re-check the lines it touches.
- Checked: the date we last compared a line or page with its sources.
- Updated: the date the page last changed.
- Run Sheet states:
- Draft: a first version built from the data, not yet checked in a real run.
- Reviewed: every line checked against its sources, not yet checked in a real run.
- Checked in a real run: we ran the dungeon in the live game and the sheet matched what happened.
- Sources: each source shows a link and the date we saw it. On Run Sheets you can also show fact IDs: every line points to the facts it rests on, and every fact names one source.
When we do not know
If something is not known yet, we say so instead of guessing.
Comparing with Retail and Classic
The Coming from Retail cards describe Retail habits in words. We never put a number from Retail, Classic Era or any other version where a Forever value belongs.
