What you can undo later

Cannot change later

  • Ruleset. Characters cannot move to another ruleset; to play elsewhere, make a new character there. The only announced transfer is for Hardcore characters that die. Official

  • Faction. Horde and Alliance cannot group, and no faction change has been announced. Official

On this ruleset your account can have both factions, but each character keeps its own. Official

  • Race. No race change has been announced. Official

  • Class. Picked when you create the character; Forever has not announced a class change. Estimate

Can change later

  • Professions. Unlearn one any time in the Professions tab (K, then the X). You lose its skill and recipes. Datamined

  • Talents. Reset them at your class trainer for gold. The launch price is not known yet. Official

  • Spec. Dual Specialization unlocks at level 40, so you can keep two specs and switch. Official

  • Looks. A barbershop in the capital cities changes your appearance for some gold. Official

How the scores work

A build is a race, a class and spec, and two primary professions. Its score (1 to 10) mixes four parts. Spec: judged on 13 dimensions, weighted by what matters to you. Race: what its racials give that spec. Professions: what the two professions give that spec, plus gold, demand, leveling help and ease, with a small bonus for a self-sufficient pair. Flexibility: how many good specs and roles the class has.

Some value only exists in a whole build: a camp buff your class already has, two trackings that cannot run together, a racial that helps a profession. These interaction rules change one part of that build by a small amount we estimated from Forever-checked mechanics, or are only shown when the base scores already count them. Each rule lists its sources.

Several independent judges scored every spec, race and profession on each dimension from sourced Forever notes (Blizzard posts, client data, expert guides). We use the median, and a review panel corrected a few scores. Nobody can play level 60 or the raids before launch, so those parts are projections, and every score is an estimate.

Presets set the weights for common goals. With your own weights, the sliders weigh the 13 spec dimensions, race and profession weights follow them, and the mix sets each part's share.

Lore fit shows how well the race suits the class in Warcraft lore. It is for roleplay and never changes a score. The ruleset changes no score either; it changes what you can undo later.

Your browser recomputes every score from our score tables, and every site build checks that the presets give exactly the numbers of our scoring script.
